Getting There

Last week I worked out 4 out of 5 days which was pretty good for me. I've struggled getting back to 5 days a week, but I am hoping that this is my week. So far I'm doing well. I've been 3 days in a row. I plan to run tomorrow and if it's not raining I will run outside. I have a running partner. She can run farther and faster than I can, but my hope is that she will push me to do more and run faster.
As far as weight is concerned I don't feel like I'm losing as fast as I would like to, but then again I'd like to lose it Biggest Loser fast and that's not possible. I'll keep plugging away like I am and I know the results will come!

Getting back in the grove

I am in the process of getting back in the grove. I have rearranged my workout schedule so that I'm not running 3 days in a row. I found that I usually skipped on of those days, so I'm really trying to do better. I went to aerobics yesterday and in spite of the soreness from all the squats and lunges I went back in today and ran. I'm getting there. It's a long process though.

Getting back into the swing of things

I have had a hard time getting back to the gym like I need to, but I think I've done much better this week. I ran on Tuesday and Wednesday and I will go to water aerobics on Friday. I have had 3 runs that were just terrible. I hit a wall I couldn't get past, but I redeemed myself yesterday with a wonderful run. I took today off though. Please pray for my brother and my father. My brother is doing his first half marathon Saturday and Dad has his second full marathon Sunday!

Training

I can't get to the gym when my kids are sick because I can't take them to the play room and boy have they been sick. We also moved into a new house in a quiet subdivision. The kids and I have been walking after dinner and I have been running around the new hood when the kids sleep well. It's hard to get up at 5:30 and run when you were up with kids that were having trouble sleeping for an hour or so.
My plan is to get back to the gym and start my new routine next week. I'll do land aerobics on Mondays run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and go to water aerobics on Friday. This is barring sickness of course.

Lack of posting

I haven't posted anything in a while because I haven't been to the gym in a while. We've traveled and my oldest had surgery, so it's been a busy summer. I'm in the process of getting back in the grove. I'll let you know how it goes.

Peach Run

I ran my first 5K Saturday. I had to walk some, but I ran over 2 miles of it. My Dad came down from TN to run with me and he pushed me to run more than I really thought I could. we had a good time though. Here are some pics!

Race Route

I ran the race route early this morning and by ran I mean that I ran the first mile and a half walked a mile and ran the last half mile. As hard as it was it felt pretty good to finish that. My legs are hurting some, but all in all I feel good and think I'm pretty much ready for Saturday even though I won't be able to run the entire race.

Am I ready

I'm not to sure how the weight loss part of my journey is going, but I ran two miles on the treadmill. It felt pretty good and I think that although I can't run the full 3.1 miles I can run most of it and probably finish in under an hour. That's my goal. Tomorrow's a water aerobic day though just in case I'm sore from my run.

5 K training

I signed up for my first 5 K and it will be on June 20th. I am excited and scared at the same time. I don't get the opportunity to run outside very often because I have to stay on campus for my kids to be in child care. I did run outside last night for the first time. I ran with my Dad and I ran 1.5 miles. I walked some to and got a total of 2.7 miles in. As far as the weight goes. It doesn't seem to be coming off as fast as I'd like, but lots of people are beginning to notice my progress, so maybe I'm just a little more critical of myself than I should be. I am running again in the morning with my cousin's wife. I'm sure she'll kick my butt, but I'm gonna do it anyway. I;m meeting her at 6 AM which is earlier than I'm used to, so we'll see.

Still training

I'm still working on getting ready for my 5K on June 20th. I may not be able to run the whole thing, but I will finish even if I have to crawl across the finish line! I ran a mile and a half last week, so I'm getting there.

Running

Well, I finally got to the gym early on Friday and did Hal Higdon's 30/30 plan. I only had 20 minutes before I had to get to water aerobics, so I had to modify it a little, but I did it! Then I went to water aerobics. It was a good day.

FINALLY!

I finally got back to the gym today after a week of vacation followed by a week of sick kids another trip and more of the same sick kids.
I only had about 30 minutes before my water aerobics class, so I adapted the hal higdon running plan for my 20 minutes of treadmill time after my 5 minutes on the eliptical.
I walked for 5 minutes did the 30/30 thing for 10 minutes and walked another 5 minutes to cool down. I must admit I thought the 30/30 thing was a bunch of bunk, but I think it worked. It wasn't hard, but more taxing than I expected.
I weighed today and had gained of course due to my lack of exercise, but I plan to change that.

The first 3 months

My parents got my husband and I a gym membership for Christmas. I was so excited. At the time I weighed 268 lbs. I thought that this would be a chance to change my life and the lives of my children for the better. I have a few goals that I want to accompolish with this chance that I've been given.

1. I want to be healthy. I will use a scale to measure my progress, but I will not bow down to the scale. I hope to loose 130 lbs, but more than anything I just want to set a healthy example for my 3 children.

2. I want to be able to walk into a store and buy something. I hate going to fat stores or fat sections in a store. I want to shop like a normal person and enjoy the shopping process.

3. I want to surprise my Dad and my brother by running a 5 k with them.

After 3 months of water aerobics, walking on the treadmill and lifting weights I have lost 15 lbs! I am very excited about my progress so far and hope to keep up my momentum if not speed it up. This month (April) I plan to start running using the Hal Higdon Beginning Runner's Guide. Wish me luck!
Here I go!
